Fabulous Acrylic Techniques and Design, with Hilary Wakeling.
Coochie Art Group enjoyed another fabulous and fun day of masterful acrylic teaching, with our own Hilary Wakeling, on Tuesday 11th August. We explored enhancing a strong painting design with a finishing black outline. Some members used Art Deco-inspired designs, some were more abstracted compositions, some were simple, but bold, but when the finishing ink was applied, the compositions sang! Hilary guided us through the pitfalls of varnishing inks, types of inks to use and much more, in her master class of acrylics! Thank you Hilary, for a wonderful day, excellent class resources and notes, as well as your generous tutelage.

Watercolour Granulation and Eco Print Enhancement with Rhyl
Coochie Art Group enjoyed another fabulous class with tutor Rhyl Henzell on 28th July. Rhyl demonstrated the final steps for our watercolour paintings, as we did further negative painting, deepened the backgrounds and added finishing touches. Some very beautiful works were created. Later Rhyl demonstrated how to subtly enhance our Eco Prints from earlier in the year. Rhyl used various Micron pens and toning watercolours to gently strengthen the designs. Her paintings and mini books were breathtaking and beautiful. Thank you Rhyl, for a wonderful start to our Post-Covid classes. We learned so much and enjoyed your tutelage and company!

Watercolour Magic with Rhyl Part 2
A few more photos of our wonderful first day back in class with tutor Rhyl Henzell, mastering the mystery of watercolour granulation. Lots of negative painting was done to pull the daisies into the foreground and gentle glazes over the granulation, gently pushed the background back even further. Visitors are always welcome if space permits. See contact details for Gail in Part 1.

At Last! Coochie back Painting Together! Part 1.
Finally, after months painting alone at home, Coochie Group members came back to the Coochie Hall for pure watercolour magic, with talented local artist Rhyl Henzell! What a way to kick off our post-Covid creativity! Rhyl was teaching the Group new ways with watercolour granulation using different brands of watercolour paper to the usual Arches/Fabriano. It was utterly wonderful to be back painting together, enjoying our fabulous class atmosphere, learning new techniques to enhance our skills and relishing each other’s company. Thank you Rhyl for a magic start to Term 3 classes and we look forward to more watercolour wizardry on 28th August. Visitors are always most welcome, as long as space in the Hall permits. More Eco Printing Part 2 Pre-Covid!
The second day of Eco Printing for Coochie Group, proved as informative and enjoyable as the first. So many colours printed bore no relationship to the original fresh colour! It was such an interesting process – so many variables. Hard to believe that a delicate wattle flower could survive the boiling to impart a gentle yellow glow to the paper or that little unopened gumnut capsules could provide beautiful textural treasures. Again, thank you Lianne, for such an enjoyable program of tuition and your magnificent hauls of resources!
