More Techniques with Jenny!
We sandpapered and rubbed after transferring our images, to learn the effects of different substrates and mediums. So much to learn and such wonderful and unexpected outcomes, as we uncovered some gems! What an arsenal of different processes we are adding to our painting techniques! And having so much fun, while we learn. Thank you Jenny for another wonderful day and your generous supply of materials! It’s all much appreciated. Looking forward to 5th March for more learning.

Fabulous Fun with Jenny Mac!
Yesterday, Coochie members had a fabulous, hard-working day learning various methods of image transfers to a variety of substrates, including wood, card, calico, paper and more using many different transfer mediums. Members are learning many different techniques to be documented in our journals, which will inform our Exhibition art works and also, form part of the exhibition itself. Exciting process!

More fun and learning with Jenny Mac!
Jenny taught us many techniques yesterday, with her huge array of equipment, experimenting on different substrates with the same mediums with such very different results! Diluted ink on various surfaces with many mediums dropped in, different techniques with stencilling, depending on effect required, layering, layering with many tools, media and so much more! Liquid pencils – wow! The list goes on. Experiments are to go into our painting journals – a generous gift from Jenny, to inform our painting choices and developments for our Exhibition in November. Thank you Jenny, for a knock-out day!

Wow! Coochie Group had a our first class on 5/2/19 with our tutor Jenny Mac and we’re blown away with all Jenny taught us. Her array of materials and mediums was huge and covered the spectrum from glorious to highly unusual, including using Condys crystals, lemon juice, special silicon painting tools and much more! So many photos, how to choose? More to follow.

Vicki’s 4th Fabulous Class with Coochie Art Group!
Vicki’s class yesterday was full of revelations for us – from the use of masking fluid with water!, building a beautiful painting from splattered blobs of colour, easy backgrounds, a sample of the miracle material, Frisket, painting white flowers, a brilliant demonstration of refraction and diffraction among many other gems.
Vicki splattered blobs and sprays of masking fluid on dry paper, immediately sprayed it with a very fine spray of water and left it to dry. When dry, she laid a glaze of yellow over and let it dry. When completely dry, she removed the masking with a crepe eraser, never her finger in this instance, and revealed the wonderful softened edges in the photos shown below.
The refraction/diffraction was clearly illustrated by pencils in glass of different thicknesses. Accurate observation showed clearly the enlargement, the refraction, the reflection of colour at the pencil end etc, as seen in the photos below. Vicki’s top tip for this was absolutely accurate observation. Paint what you see, not what you think it should be!
Vicki also demonstrated how to build a successful painting from the splattered pigments, how to enhance by negative painting and scraping w/c pencil into a wet “flower” centre, among many other techniques and tips.
What a wonderfully generous tutor, who turned certain long-standing “rules” on their heads with her beautiful, thorough Tutelage? Thank you Vicki from Coochie Art Group for a fabulous term!
