More Magic with Master Pastellist Penny
Penny continued with the watercolour underwashes, strengthening the tones and providing the bones for the portrait, pun intended! The “monster” of underwashes was tamed by Penny’s remarkable touches with pastels. So light, so delicately applied! It was a revelation to this avowed non-Pastellist! More images to follow.

Pastel Perfection with Penny!
Penny continued her magic classes with The Coochie Group today, starting with her drawing, followed by the watercolour background. The subject appeared scarily appropriate to a horror movie, until Penny started her pastel magic. Amazing how the subject was pulled out of the watercolour undercoat! Fabulous stuff and such an enjoyable, fun day.

Hot Times on a Cold, Cold Day!
A few hardy members of the Coochie Art Group braved the cold at a tutor-free day on Coochie today. Led by well-known trend setter Gilly, we painted up a storm and had a ball!

Fabulous Class with Master Pastellist Penny Gilbert-Ng!
Wow! What a great class we had today with Penny, one of our favourite tutors. Penny conjured magic with loose watercolours dripping down the pastel paper. Then suddenly, with the lightest of touches and much imagination, a superb pastel landscape emerged! Thanks Penny, for your generosity with your teaching and painting. Can’t wait for the Pastel Portraits over Watercolour with Penny’s next class on 18/6/19. Visitors welcome as long as we have room in the Hall. 0417 780 154 – Jan or janno47@gmail.com

Materials List for Pastel Classes with Penelope Gilbert-Ng.
Coochie Art Group is delighted to announce that we will be enjoying pastel classes in Term 2, with Master Pastellist (and another of favourite Coochie tutors!), Penelope Gilbert-Ng. On 14May, we’ll be exploring pastel Portraits over a toned watercolour background. We’ll begin with a thumbnail drawing of shapes of light and shadow design, then draw up on paper and tone paper with watercolour in readiness for pastel application. This will be about the creative process, not enlarging to a photo real image. In later lessons, Penny will include landscapes in Pastel, over Watercolour background. We can’t wait – sounds fantastic!
Visitors are welcome as long as class numbers permit. Please contact Jan Cox 0417 780 154 or email janno47@gmail.com for more details.

More Techniques with Jenny!
We sandpapered and rubbed after transferring our images, to learn the effects of different substrates and mediums. So much to learn and such wonderful and unexpected outcomes, as we uncovered some gems! What an arsenal of different processes we are adding to our painting techniques! And having so much fun, while we learn. Thank you Jenny for another wonderful day and your generous supply of materials! It’s all much appreciated. Looking forward to 5th March for more learning.
