I have always been interested in Art and in my formative years attended Child Art Classes at the Brisbane Technical College. Following four generations of architects in the family, I subsequently went on to study and practice Architecture. During this time I topped the course with ‘honours’ in freehand drawing and excelled in presentation in the design subjects. My chosen profession limited the time that I could devote to art. In my retirement, I am now able to devote my time to my first love, my art. My favourite media is watercolour with its beautiful transparent/translucent qualities. I also dabble in acrylic, pastel and pencil. My favourite subjects include but are not limited to landscape, seascape, streetscape and animal and birdlife. I attempt to capture-convey the essence-atmosphere of what I see and feel in my subject and not as what may been seen by the camera, while at the same time adding my own interpretation to the subject.
